I was rummaging through my ready-to-play decks (or better almost-ready-to-play decks), inserting the missing cards that I got from the Anthology set(s), e.g. Anarch Converts, Eyes of Argus, Target Vitals, and the like. So I was thinking, what would be my choices if I had to construct an (albeit fictional) Anthology II set.
Other candidates .. more for building decks than filling existing vacancies in decks, but still ..
What cards what you like to see reprinted. Please let me know in the comments!
Earlier this week (May 1st, 2017) & last week (May 24th, 2017), the VEKN has published more previews of cards contained in the upcoming VTES Anthology set. The cards shown are two new library cards, the master card The Line and the ally Vivienne Géroux, as well as four new crypt cards in total (Alabástrom, Styles Margs, Anne-Marie Bourgeois, Joseph Fischer). You can look up the new previews as well as the previous ones on the VTES Anthology page on vekn.net.
Earlier this week (April 17th, 2017), the VEKN has published two more previews of cards contained in the upcoming VTES Anthology set. The cards shown are a previously published card (Enkil Cog) with new artwork, as well as two new crypt cards (Apolonia Czarnecki & Aisha az-Zahra). Along with the preview cards, card texts have been clarified with regards to the resolution of an action (for which Enkil Cog provides an example). You can look up the new previews as well as the previous ones on the VTES Anthology page on vekn.net.
Today (April 10th, 2017), the VEKN has published two more previews of cards contained in the upcoming VTES Anthology set. The cards shown are a previously published card (Field Training) with new artwork, as well as two new crypt cards (Weirich Waldburg & Andre the Manipulator). Along with the preview cards, a new wording regarding cards attached to a vampire has been announced as well. You can view the new previews as well as the previous ones on the VTES Anthology page on vekn.net
Today the VEKN has started (the albeit short) preview of the upcoming VTES Anthology set. The expansion consists mostly of reprints of existing cards, but has a few new cards as well (10 new crypt cards and 2 new library cards). The set will be released on May 11th, 2017 on the occasion of the World Of Darkness Berlin convention alongside with the VTES European Championship 2017.
With the expansion, two significant changes come along, mostly (I think) because WotC is no longer involved in VTES, and their intellectual property had to be respected. First of all, the backside of the cards will change, because the “Deckmaster” logo/text had to be dropped. This will typically require the players to play with sleeved decks during tournaments when using decks with different cardbacks.
Also the keywords tap/untap were dropped, and they have been replaced by the keywords lock/unlock, while the function remains the same.
Check the preview page on VEKN net of the Anthology set.
The VTES European Championship 2017 which will take place from March to 11 to 14 May, 2017 during the World of Darkness convention in Berlin, Germany. On this occasion, the attendees of the convention will receive one Anthology Set, consisting of 100 cards, which be exclusive to the event. They will also have the opportunity to pre-order & purchase more copies of the set via the webshop of the WoD convention for 20 EUR. The sets then will be paid and received on-site in May; the pre-order period ends on March 3rd, 2017.
The sets consists of a number of (rather sought-after) reprinted library cards as well as prints of crypt & library cards from PDF-expansions and a few new crypt cards. The post lists the cards from the PDF expansions not as reprints, which is technically correct, but on the other hand they are not really new cards either.
You can read the full post for yourself on the WoD convention website, which also has some artwork previews.
The VEKN has released a statement regarding the next VTES expansion (again based on PDF) on April 10th, 2016. But read for yourself:
Mike Nudd and I just had a lengthy Skype call where we went over design goals for the next set and started on card design. The next set will be Bloodlines-themed and we’re aiming for around 50 cards, focussing mainly on the following clans:
- Blood Brothers
- Harbingers of Skulls
- Salubri anitribu
We may make cards for other clans as space permits. We know you want all the things and we’d like to make all the things, but to do that would probably mean about a 100-card set, which we don’t have the playtest and artist resources for. We’ll focus on the Bloodlines clans that need the most help for this set, and we’ll circle back and cover the remaining Bloodlines clans in a follow-up set.
Crypt-wise, we plan to address mainly Group 6 crypt needs, but other groups are likely to get treatment depending on need. Library-wise, we’ll have a better idea how many library cards per clan to expect as we get further into the design process, but something like “a few”.
The design of this set has nothing to do with anything Paradox/White Wolf may have planned — we have no information pertaining to that. We’re just going to carry on with designing cards as normal until we’re told to stop or told to do something different.
We’re planning to start playtesting in mid-May, with a release date of November-ish. More details to come as we figure them out!
