From an outside view, the Fortschritt Library is a private library and college in Vienna, Austria. It houses a large collection of books, ancient and new. In fact, the Forschritt Library situated at the Ringstraße in Vienna, is the head chantry of the Tremere, the heart of House Tremere if you will. Initially there were plans to build a church at the site, but after the funding didn’t came through, the half-finished building was completed with the help of secret patron as lavish, but secular baroque structure in the late 1850s.
In the eyes of mortals, the House of Hapsburg was sponsoring the library, leading to large collection of books, which soon became the focal points of visits by scholars from all over Europe. While this may be true for some parts of the library, the Tremre have gathered knowledge for a far longer time than the House of Hapsburg exists. A considerable part of the library houses rather heretical and blasphemous writings collected by the Tremere for centuries, which are of course kept from the mortal academics.
